Cupping

What is cupping?

5 minutes of cupping = 30 mins of deep tissue massage

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which silicone cups are placed on the skin. By lifting and separating the connective tissue, cupping brings fresh, oxygenated, nutrient rich blood to the area, helping to reduce inflammation, and activate lymphatic drainage. Cupping is widely used to treat pain, digestive issues, scar tissue/adhesions and aids in detoxing the body.

Cupping for athletes

Cupping is useful for athletes of all types including amateur and pro crossfit competitors, runners, swimmers, gymnasts and others.  Cupping plays an important role in injury prevention and recovery by boosting circulation, reducing muscle stiffness , improving lung capacity, increasing range of motion and improving performance, endurance and recovery.

The discoloration produced after cupping (Cupping “Marks”) is often the byproduct of built up toxins, stagnation of blood flow, previous injury, or lactic acid in the muscle. Itching or redness is often due to inflammation that has been brought to the surface. These marks will disappear within 3-5 days.

If you have any open lesions, fresh scars, burns, broken skin, varicose veins, or are on blood thinners you are not eligible for this therapy. If you are pregnant, or you have other health conditions, please speak with your primary care provider before booking a cupping session.
